State Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) is hosting a telephone town hall this coming Monday to discuss the issue of redistricting and other topics.
The state legislature is currently debating the issue of redistricting. Pennsylvania’s Congressional and state legislative districts are redrawn every 10 years based on new Census data.
Redistricting is typically a very partisan debate, where one side accuses the other of gerrymandering. In Schuylkill County, there’s a risk of losing 1 of 3 seats in the state House of Representatives because of our significant drop in population from 2010 to 2020.
In the state House, Schuylkill County is the biggest piece of the 123rd, 124th, and 125th districts. Schuylkill County is represented in the Senate by Argall’s 29th district. Redistricting also affects Congressional districts in Pennsylvania. Currently, Schuylkill County is represented by Rep. Dan Meuser in the state’s 9th district.
Argall’s telephone town hall begins at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18. People interested in attending the event can sign up to get a call when it starts at Argall’s website. The event will also be livestreamed here.
