A Port Carbon man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in the borough late last week.
According to information from State Police in Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened just before 3 a.m. on Oct. 1 along Pike St. (Route 209) in Port Carbon. That’s when and where police say Brandon Huntzinger, 29, lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and crashed into a tree and utility pole.
Police say Huntzinger’s bike left the right side of the road for an unknown reason and hit a tree. It went another 10 feet and then hit the utility pole. Huntzinger was ejected from the motorcycle after striking the tree and before hitting the pole.
Despite the early morning hour of the crash, first responders were quickly at the scene to get Huntzinger prepared for a helicopter transport to Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest. For safety purposes, electricity service was temporarily cut to the surrounding area while they worked to safely remove Huntzinger from the scene.
Police say Huntzinger suffered serious injuries in the crash.
