Kidde has issued a product recall on its Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarms and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms.
They’re being recalled due to a fault that prevents them from alerting owners of smoke or carbon monoxide in their home. The recall affects about 226,000 products with a variety of model numbers.
Kidde Recalls Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors Due to Product Defect
Specifically, this recall includes Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070 Smoke and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide alarms. It’s exclusive to products with the TruSense logo or “AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front side of the alarm.
No incidents or injuries have resulted from this product defect.
The model number is found on the back of the detectors. The following are included:
- 2040-DSR (Smoke alarm)
- 2050-DS10 (Smoke alarm)
- 2060-ASR (Smoke alarm)
- 2070-VDSCR (Smoke/carbon monoxide alarm)
- 2070-VASCR (Smoke/carbon monoxide alarm)
- 2070-VDSR (Smoke alarm)
- 2070-VASR (Smoke alarm)
These detectors were sold at Walmart, Home Depot, department stores, hardware stores, and at Amazon.com and ShopKidde.com. They were available from May 2019 until September 2020 and sold for between $10 and $70.
Customers can contact Kidde for more information about this recall and a free replacement. Until they get a replacement, owners should continue using the smoke alarms.
