An Orwigsburg man had a rough day a couple weeks ago.
At around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, police say they received reports from the Giant supermarket parking lot at the Cressona Mall that 27-year-old Jeffrey Roberts, of Orwigsburg, was “hanging out of his trunk” on his Ford Fusion.
By the time police arrived at the scene, they weren’t able to see what that actually meant. Roberts had moved from his trunk and was now behind the wheel of the vehicle. Police say he had the keys in the ignition and the engine was running. But Roberts wasn’t.
He was passed out cold and had the doors locked on his vehicle. They tried to wake Roberts from his sleep but couldn’t.
So, police then got ready to forcibly open the vehicle door but as they did, Roberts woke up.
Police conducted a sobriety test and found him to be “under the influence” and ordered a blood test. Roberts refused to cooperate with that request. He’ll now have to answer to a DUI charge resulting from this incident.
