WNEP News Anchor Sharla McBride Undergoes Vocal Cord Surgery

WNEP News anchor Sharla McBride underwent surgery on her vocal cords Thursday night.

McBride, one of the station’s top two news anchors, posted to Facebook last night to update fans on her condition just before undergoing surgery.

The surgery takes her off the air “for a little bit”. She’s a fixture on the evening news at WNEP. She co-anchors the evening and late-night WNEP News with Scott Schaffer. And she co-anchors the 10 p.m. news on WNEP2.

She wrote on Facebook: ” I won’t get into too many details but I WILL BE OK. I will get through this and be better than ever. The next few weeks won’t be the easiest as this part of recovery is painful, and requires me to live silently (yes, no talking for this talkative girl) You won’t be seeing me on TV for a little bit, but I will return and I can’t wait for that day. I appreciate your prayers. ❤️ Your kind words mean so much.”

We hope Sharla gets back on the air soon. One of her last appearances came Wednesday evening when she participated in the Yucktober segment and ate bugs on live TV.

McBride’s been with WNEP for more than 11 years now. She started in the sports department as a reporter and anchor before switching to the news anchor role.
