Possible scattered snow showers and strong winds this evening and tonight could create hazardous driving conditions in Schuylkill County.
According to a National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook, scattered snow showers are possible through Wednesday night. That combined with gusty winds out of the northwest could cause some slick spots on roads here.
Blowing snow will also be a concern.
In addition to that, tonight will be particularly frigid. A low of 13 degrees is expected. Couple that with steady winds between 13-17 mph and gusts to 30 mph, Wind Chill factors could drop as low as 0.
The frigid air is not going anywhere any time soon either.
Thursday will remain very cold in Schuylkill County. A high temperature of just 27 degrees is forecast with strong winds once again. Steady winds between 10-15 mph are forecast. Gusts could hit 33 mph. Wind Chill factors of -5 are possible through the day Thursday.
On Thursday night, a low of just 16 degrees is expected.
For Friday, talk earlier this week of a potential snowstorm has simmered down quite a bit but snow is still a possibility. Right now, snow showers are expected in Schuylkill County, mostly after 1 a.m. and until 1 p.m. Saturday. Less than 1 inch of snow is currently expected.
The good news … we may actually eclipse the freezing mark later in the weekend before a return to frigid temps early next week.
