COVID Positive Rate Down to 6.9% in Schuylkill County

The percent positivity rate of COVID-19 tests in Schuylkill County continues to drop.

Over the last 7 days tracked by the Pennsylvania Dept. of Health, the percent positive rate of COVID-19 tests among local residents dropped another full percent. It’s now at 6.9%. That still places Schuylkill County in the Moderate range of community transmission risk.

Schuylkill COVID Percent Positive Rate at 6.9%

The state believes that percent positivity on COVID tests shows how quickly the virus is spreading in a particular area. Percent positive is a measure of positive COVID tests again the overall number of tests administered. The 6.9% rate in Schuylkill County was measured in a 7-day period from February 26-March 4.

In the previous 7 days (Feb. 19-25), the percent positive rate in Schuylkill County was at 7.9%.

Additionally, there are other good signs. The total number of confirmed COVID cases in Schuylkill County during that week-long period ending March 4 dropped by 10, from 119 the previous 7 days to now just 109. That’s an average of 15.5 cases per day. Also, the average number of local residents in the hospital being treated for COVID complications dropped from about 26 to 18 per day.

Statewide, the percent positive rate is down to 5.7%, down nearly a full percent from last week, too.
