On Thursday, US Rep. Dan Meuser (PA-9) said he refused to support legislation to limit future action against Iran by President Donald Trump.

Earlier this week, Iran fired missiles at a base housing US soldiers in Iraq. The government reports no American soldiers were injured. And it’s believed Iran’s missiles missed their targets.

The next morning, Trump addressed the nation, saying there’d be no further military actions against Iran if the Islamic Republic stood down. Trump did, however, say he’d impose more financial sanctions against Iran.

Despite saying there’d be no war with Iran, Democrats and liberals spent Thursday howling at Trump’s escalation toward war with Iran.

Outside, the activist group MoveOn organized No War protests across the country, including a sparsely-attended event outside the Capitol in Washington DC.

This was very important to Democrats, apparently. So important, in fact, that this no-name Congressman got up on the dimly-lit stage and offered this dimly-lit support for the cause:

Meuser Rejects House Bill Limiting Trump’s Power vs Iran

Inside, the people we’ve elected to Congress wasted all day debating a resolution in the House that would get nowhere in the Senate.

Democrats want to limit any future actions Trump may take on Iran. In fact, most of them believe we shouldn’t have attacked Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, killing him as he departed a Baghdad airport last week. Soleimani was head of the Quds force, an army the US government previously designated a terrorist organization.

Meuser says he’s not playing along with those on the other side of the aisle.

In a statement today, he said, “Democrats are using these events as part of their endless attacks against the President.

“I am strongly opposed to H. Con. Res. 83, which would direct the President to terminate the use of US Armed Forces engaged in any hostilities in or against Iran. This overtly partisan legislation, aimed purely at undermining the President and shamefully politicizing his actions to protect Americans, should be rejected by the House,” Meuser said.

Despite Meuser opposing the bill, it still passed the Democrat majority House by a vote 224-194. Eight Democrats voted against the bill. Three members of the GOP voted for it.
