First Lady Melania Trump Unveils Schuylkill County’s Christmas Tree Decorated at White House
On Sunday, First Lady Melania Trump debuted the White House Christmas decorations. The centerpiece of the sprawling display is the White House Christmas Tree from Schuylkill County, donated by Mahantongo Valley Farms in Pitman.
“‘The Spirit of America’ is shining in the @WhiteHouse! I am delighted to share this beautiful exhibit of patriotism for all to see, and excited for everyone to experience the beauty of the #Christmas season!,” Melania tweeted Sunday evening to announce she’d completed decorating the White House for Christmas.

Here’s a look at the tree that won a national contest to be picked for the White House Christmas Tree.
As we noted, the White House Christmas Tree is just one focal piece to a larger decoration display. Since taking over as First Lady, Melania Trump has unveiled some eye-catching Christmas decoration designs for the White House.
Check out this video posted to the White House’s YouTube channel on Sunday night with Melania’s walk-through of the 2019 Christmas decorations.
Mahantongo Valley Farms, which straddles the Schuylkill County/Northumberland County line, donated this 18.5-foot Douglas fir tree.
It sits in the middle of the famed White House Blue Room.
On Saturday, the Trumps hosted volunteers at the White House to help decorate the People’s Christmas Tree. Here’s what #FLOTUS tweeted Saturday to mark the occassion:
Volunteers are hard at work at the @WhiteHouse. Thank you to all who came all across our great nation to decorate the People’s House. Looking forward to view it tomorrow evening! #ChristmasWhiteHouse🎄 pic.twitter.com/SUhhXr4DD7

Back on November 25, Melania emerged from the White House to greet Mahantongo Valley Farms owner Larry Snyder, from Pitman, and accept the tree. (NOTE: Snyder is from Pitman. His farm covers land in two counties but since Pitman is in Schuylkill County, that’s what we’re calling it the Schuylkill County White House Christmas tree.)
Snyder’s farm was previously picked and White House staff had their choice of several trees at Mahantongo Valley Farms. Snyder loaded up the best tree of the bunch and headed to Washington DC for the delivery.
Check out the video highlights of the event:
A horse-drawn carriage wheeled the winning tree up to the White House where Melania accepted it. Snyder’s family was able to get a personal tour of the White House that day, too.
When Snyder delivered the tree to the White House, he told The Daily Item newspaper, “I feel delighted. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

So, you’re probably thinking it’d be pretty cool to buy a tree or something from the farm that supplied the White House with the 2019 Christmas tree.
The farm says its retail location is actually over the county line in Leck Kill, Northumberland County. Here’s the full address for GPS purposes:
