FanDuel vs. DraftKings – Which should I choose?

FanDuel and DraftKings are the big dogs on the block when it comes to daily fantasy football. Sure there are other providers out there but FD and DK control the lion’s share of DFS play. That raises the question as to which site is “better”. I put better in quotes because there’s no real answer to that question, both sites are very similar and it essentially comes down to personal preference.

Scoring Differences – FanDuel vs. DraftKings

There aren’t many differences between the two sites but the grid below outlines the major differences in NFL contests.

Contest Differences – FD vs. DK

Both sites are in direct competition for players so you’ll find that they both offer VERY similar contests. Want to play for $1 million each week? You can do that on either site. Like cash games better than tournaments? Both sites offer many different types of game styles and price points to fit your fancy. At the end of the day both sites are great options regardless of your spending level and contest selections.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day you can’t go wrong with either. Both companies have been around for years, are established in the DFS community and operate off a solid foundation.  You shouldn’t have a concern playing on either. It really just comes down to personal preference.

Many people choose to play both sites. Why not?  Sometimes player pricing and contest selection is better on one site versus the other so it’s nice to have the flexibility. FD and DK are independent of each other so sometimes there can be pretty big differences in player pricing which can create opportunity if you have the ability to play on both sites.

You can also just pick one and go for it. Talk to your friends, see if they play then choose the same site they use. DFS is more fun with friends. If you know of group of guys/girls who play you can set up private contests just for you and your friends. The site takes a rake to administer the contest but it’s a fun way to ease in to DFS and see how everything works. It also feels just a LITTLE better when you peel a few bucks off your friends.
