The public’s been invited to a visitation service for Dr. Jack Dolbin at Pottsville’s Martz Hall on Friday, August 16. The service will happen between 5 and 7 p.m. in Pottsville.

This was announced as funeral arrangements were made public Saturday. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home is taking charge of the arrangements.

Tributes Continue for Jack Dolbin

The sudden news of Dolbin’s death is still making its way among the many people he impacted in his 70-plus years.

At Wake Forest

His college alma mater, Wake Forest University, honored Dolbin with a tribute on their website and posted a great photo of him from his playing days there.

For the Demon Deacons, Dolbin starred in his sophomore season. That was after being forced to sit his freshman year with a broken leg he suffered in the Big 33 game in the off-season.

Not only did Dolbin excel out of the backfield for Wake Forest, he was also an accomplished member of the track-and-field team.

Teammates of Dolbin’s at Wake have been replying to various social media remembrances posted in the days since his death.

The Denver Broncos haven’t officially recognized Dolbin’s passing but it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the team he helped get to their first Super Bowl in 1978. Jim Saccomano, the Broncos VP of public relations, tweeted Thursday evening:

Saccomano also says he informed Denver’s starting QB that Super Bowl year, Craig Morton, of Dolbin’s death. He wrote:

At Home in Pottsville

Dolbin’s many teammates from his Pottsville High School and Schuylkill County Coal Crackers playing days have offered up remembrances of him online. In addition to his football and sports prowess, Dolbin is of course, remembered for his faith and his contributions to the local community and the medical community.
