National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch this morning for Schuylkill County.

The Watch is in effect until “late tonight” according to the alert from NWS.

Forecasters there say that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the area between 1 p.m. and about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

“Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds 60 mph or greater and large hail exceeding 1 inch in diameter are probable today, mainly after noon and before midnight. A few tornadoes are also possible,” NWS says in a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Flood prone areas in Schuylkill County should be on high alert for potential fast rising waters.
